Guided Tour of The Augmented Landscape Saturday November 4th, 4-5pm

Join curator George Fifield in a guided tour of eight site specific Augmented Reality (AR) experiences on November 4th at 4pm. Please bring a fully charged smartphone or tablet and download Layar, a free augmented reality app. The tour will start at 4pm on November 4th at the Salem Maritime National Historic Site (160 Derby St, Salem, MA 01970)
AR is computer-generated sound, video or graphics that are layered into a real-world environment. Sited throughout the park, either on the land and or in Salem Harbor, the sculptures are positioned via GPS, each in a specific place on the Salem campus, and viewable by using the augmented reality application Layar (free for iOS and Android). The unique, site-specific AR sculptures by John Craig Freeman, Kristin Lucas, Will Pappenheimer, and Tamiko Thiel in an outdoor exhibition at the National Park Service’s Salem Maritime National Historic Site. The work will be on view through November 30, 2017.
